Mozart and Dvorak

Heeellooooo, this is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 1 year and 8 (8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 3) + 2 days old. According to the forecast, it’s going to be chilly again tomorrow. Dad, who always checks out temperature with his proud thermometer, also said it would be difficult to hit 80F over this weekend. Hmm. I’m just concerned about the condition of fruits.

Today I would like to write about the concerts held on this past Sunday. Celebrating Mozart’s 250th anniversary, Grandpah’s & Dad’s teachers St. Lawrence Strings Quartet had a tribute concert on campus, and we family attended the concert with Naomi, Nori, and Kaz. You know, their Clarinet Quintet was especially superb! Mom even wanted me to start learning clarinet. Weeell… as a typical Asian-American kid, I may want to learn some instrument. But I’m now already way too busy for learning about fruits! Anyways, it was such a fruity concert.

Cimg4447 At night, Grandpah also had his own concert with three mature ladies. They played Dvorak’s Strings Quartet, No.14. Our punk friends –Jennie, Anne, Vikram and his parents, Yoshi, Katie, and Kaz– came to the concert for Grandpah. To conclude, we family (including Grandpah himself) were not necessarily satisfied with the performance. According to Dad, Grandpah’s cello was actually fruity, along with the viola part which was stable too. Well… I am only 1 year old. I’m too little to understand any difficult thing about music. All I can say is that sometimes I felt very nervous and unconfortable with the high note. But I also felt relaxed when I could hear Grandpah’s familiar deep cello sound. Over all, I was content with meeting with Jennie and drinking fresh fruits juice. Keekeekee.

After coming back home, Akemi’s fruity cake consoled our spirits. Punk. So, it was about our busy Sunday.

Fruity music,

Fruitology

Cimg4427 Heeelloooooo, this is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 1 year and 8 (8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 2) + 6 days old. Argh, I’m now struggling with this mid term report for FRUITS488 class. Naomi gave me a special lecture on some interesting topics ("The Effect of Fruits on the Egyptian Desert," "Fruits in  Old Testament," etc.), which were related to my paper theme "Babylonian fruits". You know, "fruitology" is such a profound study! Lots of things to learn! I realized a fruit has been historically considered as a symbolic source of nutrient.

…What exactly am I writing about Babylonian fruits? Weell… I’ll upload my paper after I submit it to my advisor Naomi. Keekeekee. (Don’t worry! I know too well that everyone wants to read more about fruits!)

Historically fruity,

-FG

Fruity Sunshine

Cimg4417 Heeelloooooo, this is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 1 year and 8 (8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 2) + 4 days old. Hmm, such a beautiful day. As a CFO, I’m glad to know that all fruits in California would appreciate the sunshine today. As a 1-year-old kid, I’m playing around on the tree in the yard! Keekeekee.

Well…, as a grad student, I have to prepare for the mid term. I will submit a short essay about Babylonian fruits for Naomi’s FRUITS488 class. So, I’ll keep this diary short this time. Active with fruits, fresh as fruits. FG’s Fruits.

Many fruits,

Sunny Sunday

Cimg4414 Heellooo, this is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 1 year and 8 (8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 2) + 2days old. It was such a fruity day here today. Grandmah took a walk to the Dish with Naomi and Kanako in the morning. They enjoyed the refreshing air in the Bay Area. I could also feel spring has come. Weeell…, in California, it’s always much much warmer than in Tokyo or Kobe the whole year though. Keekeekee. This reminds me, one of Grandmah’s friends once said that she felt "depressed" in this "consistently sunny and warm weather of California." She rather wanted clearly defined four seasons. Hmm. Interesting. My B-school buddy Sachiyo was also writing about "the enervating climate of California" in her blog. Grandmah also somewhat agreed with them. Well, as a Nor-Cal boy, I must admit I love Californian weather. You know, it’s good for fruits! Thanks to the sunshine, we can appreciate apples, oranges, grapes, etc. Everyday I am deeply thankful to my fruits and food. Blessing of the sun, FG’s fruits.

Fruitfully yours,

Fruits Science #6 -Citrus Fruits

63622962053_468_1 Heeeeelloooooooooooooo, this is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 1 year and 8 (8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 2) + 1 days old. I hope my punk customers are having a fruity weekend. Once a new quarter began, everyone got so busy in the weekdays. As for me, I too am vigorously taking Naomi’s class (FRUITS488) and working as a CFO/CEO of FG’s Foods. Yeeaaa, I must admit it is a little stressful sometimes to be a student and businessman at the same time. When you feel stressed out, your body may become a bit too sensitive, and get an allergy at times. In that case, you have to take some medicine and rest enough. Interestingly, while taking the medicine for allergy (or hives), you better refrain from eating citrus fruits, which might act as irritants.

Hmm. It must be so hard not to eat such a wonderful fruit! Orange, grapefruit, lemon, etc… Well, still, a good health is the most important thing, and what FG’s Foods wants to promise to our customers. When you have to stay away from citrus fruits due to the above reason, please enjoy my Dad’s face. It really looks like a big grapefruits. Keekeekee.

Fruitily healthy,

-FG

Prayer of Fruits

Cimg43952 Heeelloooooo, this is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 1 year and 8 (8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 1) + 8 days old. Sigh, life is so tuff. There are so many things to bear and overcome. I’m only one year old, but I’m a CFO. And, and, I’ll be 2 years old soon. I have to be mature. As mature as I can support myself, my family, and my friends. Yesterday, we family got an email from Susan, who is now studying dance in New York. She wrote a comment to my blog entry, and tried to cheer me up. Yea, as she said, it’s so lucky to have family, friends, along my own life. Always on your side, FG’s Foods.

Many fruits,

Saddened Fruits

Heellooooo, this is Froggie, or Kodaiko, 1 year and 8 (8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 1) + 7 days old. Today is the beginning of February. Time flies so fast. On the same day of the last year, we family were in Tokyo. Grandpah was working in Shinjuku, and Grandmah was working at Tokyo U, where we met many friends and colleagues.

Cimg3649 Today, we heard a sad news about one of them, this lovable British guy. He had been struggling with job-hunting for a long time, because of some unwarrantable tricks of fate. As heard through the grapevine (I like this expression), he left the Japanese premodern history field and now studies chemistly in New Zealand. Grandmah was so shocked with this news. Grandpah said she should email him before beliving the rumor. He was such a brilliant, truly brilliant scholar. I met him so often at their office. He servered me a cup of coffee in a british way. As Grandmah always said, he was the most pessimistic guy in the world, or in the space. He loved talking, and "exploded" so often. But he was always so lovable, honest, and genuine to his friends. As one of the most brilliant scholars of this field, he was always griefing over the future of premodern history.

Grandmah doesn’t want to believe this news. But, knowing his character, she can also sadly understand how he changed his way, after publishing such a remarkable book on medieval East Asian trading. This is wrong. This is truly wrong. This academia is like a rotten fruit.

Fruits of wrath,

-FG
